White House Fruit Farm Update

These past couples of weeks have left everyone questioning the harvest this spring.  We have been on high alert with a handful of frosty nights and mornings.  But don’t you worry, things are looking just fine!  Our peaches are still looking good as well as most of our apples, with some varieties a little ‘dinged.’  We’ve had many late nights of taking extra special care of our crops and we hope to see many more benefits!  Our strawberries are ready to bloom and asparagus has already shot up out of the ground!  We’ve got a table full, right now, of our own homegrown asparagus.  We encourage you to try it if you never have, and if you have, well what are you waiting for?!  Grill it, steam it, roast it, can it or just eat it raw!  Asparagus is a rich source of folic acid and potassium.  With a significant amount of vitamin B6, asparagus is also low in calories, containing less than 4 calories per spear.  Eat up!

Also, coming up quick is Bonnie’s Birthday Party!!  May 12 is the day and fun is what you will find here on the farm!  With games, contests, clowns, ventriloquists, other talented dogs, food, fun and BONNIE, the day is sure to be enjoyed by all, especially Bonnie!  Festivities will begin at noon.  Stay tuned to our website and FACEBOOK for further updates.  Mark your calendars; you don’t want to miss out!

As some of you have already seen, we have done a little re-arranging in our second room.  The donuts have moved, as well as the pies and coffee.  Do not get discouraged if you walk into White House and don’t see your beloved donuts.  Just keep walking, as they are now relocated down to in front of the windows looking out onto the deck.  Same donuts, different location.

Still plenty of our own apples on the shelves, including: Gold Rush, Jonagold, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, Crispin, Empire, Cameo, Ida Red and Gala.

See you on the farm!
